You have so clearly articulated a number of feelings that I had in response to McLennan and Hookham's rather patronising attitude towards people with a disability. I could not have expressed myself so well. Everyone's lives are enriched by inclusiveness in their community. The ability to express a sense of humour, including self-deprecating humour, is a normal and natural part of this, and shouldn't be held to be the exclusive reserve of so-called "normal people".
